    Default Mobile Phone Insurance

Ok story is .... the missus has a vodafone contract about 40 quid per month( althogh its always much more in calls ) vodafone sold her insurance for it too .
been paying this for years ,
on monday she left it in her supermarket trolly whilst sticking shopping in the car , when she went back for it GONE ! some f88ker lifted it ,
reported it to he store to see if it was handed in ... NOPE !
went to the local police station yesterday to see if handed in ...NOPE!
Copper sad it prob will never be so issued her with a case number to claim insurance , so this she does only to be told NO SORRY YOU LEFT IT UNNATTENDED ! on telling them she only turned her back on it for a minute they said too bad and only offered her a new sim card !!
So to the vodafone shop today to see if they could help as it was them who sold the policy to her and the @rseholes were not interested.
tese b@stards have had thousands of pounds over the years from me,her,my son ,sister etc etc .
and all because they refuse her a replacement handset !
looks like it will be letters of complaint to insurance co and vodafone ... for starters!
contracts will not be renewed also so they will lose business from arond 6 people all for the sake of trying to save themselves money !!!

    RANT OVER ....

I think it the way she worded it.

Maybe she should have said that she has lost it, PROBABLY in the supermarket.

Saying that she left it in the trolley may invalidate the cover.

In my honest and frank opinion, if she left it in the trolley (ie her negligence has caused the loss) why are you expecting the insurance to replace it?? I don't think they should. You maybe won't like that, but it's my opinion.

That's the way it works, I'm afraid. The policy will mention taking "reasonable care" which, in the insurance comany's eyes, she hasn't. If it was locked up somewhere, or in a jacket pocket it would be covered.

Still not good though even as a gesture of goodwill with the business they have from you,you would expect them to do something towards a new handset.. even if it was helping with the costs...

If you bank with Lloyds they offer free mobile phone insurance,

used it twice now and never had any problems with them, i even discovered the excess is cheaper than most policies you have to pay for.

I know it's a bit late now but it might help in the future.

Don't forget that any company selling insurance products has to be authorised and regulated by the FSA.

The company are obliged to handle your complaint within strict guidelines, inform you of their complaint process and your right to refer to the Financial Ombudsman Service:

    http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.u...complaints.htm

If they haven't followed the FSA rules for complaint handling then they're on the back-foot already!

yes I know its a playing with words game but to pay for something all this time not knowing it wont be covered is a right pain , looking at the policy online there .... basically the insurance covers very little
never again , could have bought 5 phones wi the insurance we paid

NEVER buy phone insurance from your phone provider, im guessing you pay about £5 a month

most house insurance policies will cover mobile phones from abour £10 a year

and they dont mess you about either
