    Default Vectra 1.8 SRI 2007

    Hello

I am thinking of buying this car. Is it reliable and would anyone recommend it?

    Thanks.

Depends on your needs, and how much you have to spend.. will you be doing a lot of miles and how long do you want to keep it for? If i were you i'd be tempted to buy a 1.9 cdti SRI vectra...

the 1.8vvt seems a bit underpowered due to the size of the car but as far as I know quite reliable. The 2.2 direct gives similar mpg figures.

    Hello

The car we are looking at is £9990 for a June 2007 registration Vectra 1.8 SRI with 14k on the clock. We want it for local travel and also to drive across France later this year. Would be aiming to keep it for about 3 years.

A decent vx dealer will tell you the 1.8 is under powered

I have a 1.8vvt.It has 140bhp so its not that slow.I find it fine for most driving conditions.

To the original poster....check that the clutch doesn't judder when setting off.Its a common fault on 1.8vvt's and it has to have a new clutch and flywheel replaced(under warranty so no cost to you).

I had mine replaced at 2180 miles and it seems to be fine now.

I would hate you to buy it and it have to go in not long after to have its clutch replaced. You don't seem to trust the car anymore after that.Make sure its been done before you buy it.

If i were you i'd definatley get a diesel.. better MPG.. plus the 1.9cdti is a really nice motor if you get the 150 SRI then it has nice power!!

    heres a nice example

You get a hell of a lot for your money with a 1.8 plus less of the reliabilty issues you seem to get with the diesels - go for it

my old vec was the older 1.8 (pre vvti)was slightly under powered but when pushed hard it could fly but fuel consumption was poor though . i had mines for two and a half years and was 100% reliable could not fault it
