unbelievable, what a mess and what a waste of life. Does anyone think it would be advantageous to limit the power available to new drivers? Im sure I've heard of countries with for eg a 100bhp limit for the first few years?

A power limit would make sense - after all, that's what they have with motorbikes I believe.

The trouble is, no matter how old and experienced you are, you always want more power and speed. You only have to look at the number of posts on here about remaps/tuning boxes etc. to see that.

Power isn't the only problem (though it undoubtedly was a major player in this accident), it's got a lot to do with what happens when the power available exceeds the talent of the driver.

Exactly, but it's not just about the age to bhp ratio.

Lewis Hamilton seems to be well in control of his 900hp, and he's only 23. Trouble is, most of us normal drivers don't have his background of karting and racing which have helped him get his skill levels to where they are.
