    Default Full tank cost

    Hi guys,

I'm looking at getting a new car in the next couple of months and i am certianly looking at the Vectra but not sure what version to go for.

How much is a full tank in these cars for a petrol and for a diesel? I would be looking at the 1.9 or v6 in the diesel and the VXR in the petrol

Also does the VXR have to be fed super unleaded?

It's a 61 litre tank at whatever price the fuel is near you.

I believe the VXR needs to be run on SUL aswell but I may be proved wrong.

It'll cost you about the same to fill either car. Slightly less for the VXR.

However, expect to get around 20-22 mpg on average out of the VXR.

I wouldn't even entertain normal petrol in the VXR, you may run the risk of detonation at higher speeds (especially if you intend remapping it). To be on the safe side, stick with 97RON or higher (Super Unleaded)

Mine will do 450 at a push to a full tank, £55+ to fill it. The VXR does not need super unless its tuned really. Costs the same to fill up but its 22mpg against 40+ for the diesel...... DEpends if you want mpg or mph
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

I know most of you will be thinking that how can you be looking at a 2.8 petrol versus a 1.9 diesel but i could afford to run the VXR its just from reading the site a remapped 1.9 gives some good gains, is cheaper to buy and run so trying to get the bigger picture lol

The only thing with me is the looks, the VXR does look damn nice in standard form, were as i would need to spend money making the Diesel look sportier

If money is a consideration, go for the 1.9 CDTi. You will get similar performance to a VXR... and much much cheaper.

Once the VXR has been remapped, it is faster than the tuned 1.9 CDTi's, but the costs increase (double in some instances).

... go for the VXR if you have around £10,000 per year to budget on running costs.
