I reckon the recommended oil is longlife 5w-30 which is what I run in mine, although you will never harm it by changing it more regularly in my opinion. Longlife is fully synthetic Service Classification: ACEA A3 B3 B4 API SL CF Meets requirements of: OPEL B 040 2095 (GMLL-A-025), OPEL B 040 2098 (GMLL-B-025)

you have to use VX's oil if you have a DPF as the sulphur content is vital to the survival of the DPF..

    OoooKay -

    1) what's a 'DPF'?

    2) where can i get a maintenance manual from for when i do my own stuff

    and...

    3) are dual mass flywheels a real problem when they decide to give up and 'break-down'.

I only ask as i have a very high mileage motor - 98,000(!) although it does have a complete main dealer service history with print outs of each of the services and inspections etc. It was a motorway mile munching company car. Doesn't appear to have been thrashed (no major stone chips where you would normally find them) and she has been really well looked after - shes even got the bigger alloys which haven't even been kerbed.

    Cheers

I'm using Comma's Long-Life 5W30 which has all the Vauxhall approvals etc. Was about £22 for 5 litres.

98k isn't high milage if it's motorway work.

    Cheers ZS!

My local dealer said they only sell in 1ltr bottles at 12 a go!

I guess the oil change is straight forward? It's the first time i've worked on a modern car. All others i've worked on have been pre '94.

    Cheers,

    is this true?

My mate thats a mechanic said use comma 5w-30w is vxl spec and is half the price of vxl stuff.
I said can`t cos got DPF and doesn`t like sulphur.VXL`s brew is supposed to be for DPF cars.
He said comma should be as it`s made to vxl`s spec.

So any clarification - apart from I have use vxl oil at twice the price for my DPF?

oh ok, so where is that located and what does it do - is it part of the exhaust system? And how is it affected by the grade of oil?
