    confused detached garage size/costs

hoping to move house in a couple of weeks time and looking to build a detached garage in the rear garden (driveway goes right down side of house)

    the questions being

    1) what size .......to take the car and still have some room at the back for a decent workbench, shelving down side etc.

2)cost for above......... prefer breeze block with pebble dashing, pitched roof sort of thing

any sort of rough guides would be helpful as i have'nt a clue
