Default 2 litre or not 2 litre

Hi guys, Looks like there's not alot of 2.2 dti sri's to be had for around the 4500 mark. Still just browsing at the moment as i would need to sell my rover first, ideally. But whats your thoughts on getting say a 2002-03 dti 2.0litre for around nearer the £3k and spending a bit on a tuning box and a nice set of alloys and perhaps a spoiler. Would the tuning box take the power nearer the 2.2 or match it?. There's no rush for me at the moment so maybe the right veccy will pop up later in the year. Maybe a 2.2 elite or something.
    Cheers Woody

    Wait for the 2.2.

The DTi series of engines are pigs to try and tune, if you do it can put a strain on the fuel pump, which can cost upwards of £2000 (yes, thousand) to replace.

The 2.0 is working hard to propel a car of the Vectra's weight too. The 2.2 does it a lot better.

Also, as a bonus, I'm yet to see a 2.2 that's putting out less than 135 bhp. My old one was 144, and that was standard!

In my opinion, the 2.0 is just that bit too underpowered for the car.

The 2.0 has 100bhp and 2.2 dti has 123bhp. don't think a chip will increase the power to match the 2.2. Also being bi-est the 2.2 is very economical and 0-60 in 10 secs and top speed of 127mph. its no slouch. Cant recommend them enough, had mine for nearly 3 years now and still in love with it.

But its your choice just have a good look round first before jumping in.

Okay, thanks guys thats helped make my mind up especially the thought of damaging the fuel pump (yike's) perhaps that SRi is waiting for me.

275,000 miles WOW! thats a real testament to how good the diesel veccy engine is i wasn't really too fussed about mileage, was hoping for something under 100,000 but wouldn't turn my nose up at anything over that. But thats really reasuring. saying that though it probably depends on how it's looked after and driven but even so.
