My bottom door hinge went on the front drivers side. The chassis side of the hinge where the pin goes in broke. New hinge £12. Didnt need door side luckily as thats welded into the door!

Just be careful lining and adjusting it otherwise you'll get leaks which is what I had. Took a bit of fiddling but is ok now.

Easy enough to do, just disconnect the wiring plug by pulling up the clip and yanking it off, undo the vertical bolts that go down through the pin, lift off door then undo chassis bolts (get some new ones!) replace with new hinge then put it all back together.

Took me about half an hour plus days trying to get it lined up and adjusted (easy enough to do). You may have to readjust the striker plate too.

Its a common breakage according to the local alfa stealers bodyshop. <<ENDQUOTE>>

The alfa owner forum is a pretty good place, similar to here al the guys are pretty friendly. A good source for info for you pal.

My Alfa 156 was a dream, even had the Selespeed gearbox, but not even a hint of any problems. Think I must have been really lucky. Sorry I can't help.
