Mate has a problem with his remote control and he only has one for the car. Hes changed the battery and it still doesnt open/close car. He has to open with key. Hes removed the outer key part to see if it was just the casing that had worn away from the contacts, but even pressing the contacts on the pcb doesnt operate the door locking. Sp what does he do? Clearly doesnt want to go to dealer as it woul dbe arm and a leg. Does he need to use dealer for programming? Is the immobilisor part of the pcb? On the VAG cars you could remove the imob and place it in another key fob and set the new key up on the car without the VAG software. So guys please can you advise on the cheapest option to solve this annoying problem of setting the alarm of all the time

There is a procedure to sync the fob with the car again. Seem to remember it involves putting the key in the ignition and putting it into position 1 a couple of times... Has he tried the manual?
