    Default F%Łking Dealers

What is it with dealers these days?
After my beloved Signum lunches itself last night the recovery truck take us to Hutchings VX in Treforest.

    The conversation goes like this;

    "Can I help you Sir"
"Yes, my car has just been recovered here as the gearbox seems to have gone"
    "Did you book it in?"
"No, I wasn't expecting the heap of crap to break down again"
"If you haven't booked it in we can't look at it for at least a week and will have to charge you storage fees for the vehicle being here"

By this point I am quite incredulous. Don't forget this is the company that has done over Ł10k of mechanical work on this car in the last 2 yrs.

"Are you serious? You're going to charge a customer for storing a car as you don't have enough technicians to look at it?"
"well it's either that or you move it onto the main road"
"How do you propose I do that? It's broken down, remember"

Eventually she sort of agrees not to charge and I go off absolutely furious with them.
Now after the initial 48hr loan car period has expired I have to rent a car at my expense as they can't look at the car for so long.

I have just applied for a loan. As soon as it's out of the garage it's gone.
    Never again.

Is it by any chance a large chain of garages??
Try and find a rare family owned one-they're much better!

Name and shame and put on the BAD GARAGE LIST!

Take it to another VX garage if it's still a VX problem, insist on a VX recon box, rebuilds are no good, every one I know who has a rebuild gets 20k max from it before it goes again, I feel for you mate, I don't think this is a VX thing I think it's the dealer myself patching you up each time instead of repairing, anyway this dealer needs to be got rid of, they've proved they are sub standard many times over from the sound of things.

It had a new gearbox in September 2006 VV. This looks like a split pipe or something. There's now way an autobox should fail after 40k miles FFS.
Just hope my 3rd party warranty comes up trumps again.

TT, you must have had a curse put on you or something. I can't get over all the problems you've had. Write to VX customer services list all the problems and time wasted and money spent and complain like mad... Hope the next car gives you less hassle.

I then get a stock letter back saying how sorry they are and that they hope this "one off" won't dissuade me from buying another Vauxhall etc.

Replacement part will have a warranty, even if one isn't specifically given for that particular part, you will have rights etc under the 'Sales of Goods Act' - even if that part is fitted FOC under warranty
