Default Problems with the neighbours - what would you do?

    Hi all,

Friday my neighbours went away and left the kids behind. For the last 2 nights I have hardly been able to sleep for noise, it sounds like they had everyone they know in there! They are both girls, one of them is 18, and I am pretty sure the other is still at school, but god knows how many blokes there were in there last night, they were shouting, banging, running up and down the stairs.......until half 5 in the morning

I would have gone next door and had a word but I didn't for 2 reasons, firstly, the last time I did this, when the mother got back she went ape, shouting through the wall. Secondly, the number of guys that were in there last night was more than just me, so it could have gotten messy. And they know my car, which is parked on kind of a communal car park, so I would be worried about it getting vandalised.

I have phoned the police in the past and was advised to get in contact with environmental health, but as this doesn't happen all the time, it would be pointless.

I am so tired tonight, and they haven't come back next door yet! I am dreading when they do.

What would you guys do? As much as I would love to, advice about going round there with a bat and beating the hell out of them isn't an option, I can't risk any trouble with the police as my girlfriend is in the middle of the application process to them.

    Cheers

I'd just wait and see if anything kicks off tonight, if so just call the police to come round and knock there door. There not going to know its you that has reported them. I Feel for you mate, I have he same thing going on next to me, but as soon as anything kick off the guy next to me flies round, big rough arses ex bouncer, they soon shut up.

Mate put your music centre on and your favorite cd (mega death) and place one of your speakers and place on wall, turn up volume and wait..See if they like it eh?? Either that i would certainly contact the police and see if they respond to a warning?? If that does not work then contact the enviromental health they will measure the level of noise and work their magic..I feel for you my friend!

While I have thought about making noise myself, I don't want to annoy the neighbours the other side of my house.

I think I will just phone the police if they start again tonight.

Cheers guys - but keep the ideas coming, I have considered calling social services, as the one girl I don't think is 16 yet, but cannot be 100% sure.

Make note/diary of noise and how long it lasts,
if possible record some of the noise too.

Remember to keep a log, it'll come in handy should you need to start legal proceedings.

The next thing to do is to ask them to stop, by knocking on the door and politely asking (hard to do I know when you feel the way you do about them).

If they don't at first, then write them a personal letter telling them how they're affecting your life and hand it to them.

While you're doing this, get the Environmental Health on your side with your log that you've been putting together.

Get a solicitor to write to them at this stage. It may cost you £50 - £100 (or maybe you know someone in the trade?) They should really take notice of this. It's good to *hit anyone up.

Don't make noise back at them with music through the walls etc. as this won't strengthen your case with the EH.

Above all, try to keep your cool. The earplugs advice is good. Move any of your beds away from offending walls. Remember you need to fight back and this is the proper way of dealing with this problem. Every log taken, note written, solicitor informed, EH informed etc. is another tick in the box for you towards getting the matter sorted. Everytime you take action, take heart from it. It'll help you get through

I feel for you, I really do Vid. We all go through crap like this at some stage of our lives and it's a very common problem. AND I'll sure be sticking around to try and help you through this.
