    Default Shaking steering wheel

My steering wheel shakes like mad when i go over 60 with these new tyres on.

Went to see the guy who fitted them who said they were balanced fine and took quite a lot of weight to balance. It shook when i went over 75 with the old tyres but this is much worse!!

I would guess it is the balance but any ideas?

Put the back wheels on the front to see if this makes any difference. If the problem stops then you know its the wheels. If it continues something more serious.

Check the tyre pressures, I had the exact same problem and found that the tyres were under-inflated - 26psi when they should be 32psi. The shaking stopped.

The guy who fitted them said they were at the correct pressure. If i swap them with the back and the shaking stops would it affect the handling of the car in any way?

Does the steering wheel feel likes its having a pendulum feel or just normal wheel vibration?

The guy may have put too many weights on the tyre. Over weighting theses can be as bad as no weights at all. If you swap ends with the wheels and they are that badly out of balance you'll feel it roughly underneath the floor pan near the drivers seat as it transmits the vibrations through the car. As for handling i dont think it would have any adverse effect

Mine was like this with the old Nankang tyres I had on.... the harsh ride and vibrations from the tread caused a wheel balance weight to be thrown off and that caused quite an alarming shakeing sensation at the steering wheel.

Check yourself just to be sure. I always assumed that when tyres are fitted they would be inflated to the correct pressure but I found out they don't seem to do that

It will be something simple anyway.
