In that video they fitted them to an old Megane, which has the now dated glass headlight lense where the light is sent into the reflector, and then the glass focuses the beam. Upgrading these bulbs will, as they showed, 'scatter' the light out.

However, newer style headlights use a pre-focused 'cat-eye' lens. (Vectra C's inlcuded). These lenses are much more accuate at focusing the beam so 'scattering' isn't such an issue. However, as has been said on here, with HIDs you do require Automatic Headlight Height Adjustment and Headlight Washers.

I bought a set for my veccy c that I'm just trading in. Had absolutely nothing but trouble with them. The issue is mainly with the capacitor that you need to fit to make them work on a veccy. They worked fine for a few weeks but after that they would intermittently shut down either one or both lights. This would get more and more regular until they wouldn't even switch on. A change of capacitor made them ok again for a while, but the old problems soon resurfaced. I experimented with all sorts of sizes but couldn't find one that made them work fine
My advice would be stay well clear. The new veccy I've just purchased is coming with the Bi Xenon package. The real McCoy

As already said if the beam patterns OK you'll be fine for an MOT unless they want to be really strict.

Strictly speaking, no they are probably not legal.
But I can certainly confirm the beam pattern on our headlights is NOT scattered as it would be on an older design on headlight, and it is more than good enough to pass an MOT. (beam patter not affected and not an issue at all really)
IMO, you just need to use a certain amount of common sense, i.e; make sure the lights are correctly aligned (remember to lower the beam if you load the car up) and make sure the headlight lenses are kept clean and you won’t have or cause any issues.
