    Default Reversing sensors (estate)

    I'm part-way through fitting some.

The how-to only covers the hatch - the estate wiring is different. So before I get snipping, could I just double-double check that the wire indicated below is the reverse light.

It looks too thin to supply the lights directly, so I'm guessing it's just a control line and there's a relay of some sort in the tailgate. If that's the case, it shouldn't affect the bulb warning system. Has anybody needed to fit a bypass relay to an estate?

Also, did anybody ever figure out what these two connectors are for?

I would have guessed a towbar, but by all accounts, the towbar wiring plugs directly into a socket on the main fusebox.

the first picture doesn't help much, but my advice is to get a feed from as close to the bulb as possible..or chase the wire colour back from the lamp to be 100%..

the 2nd picture is indeed wiring for the towing system..but VX don't make a system that connects into it....so when GG and I wired up his estate we had to solder into these wires to get feeds as the VX plug in kit is about 4" too short in the harness to rear the REC..double .

The first picture is correct, that wire is for the reversing light. If you read through that thread, it should tell you all you need to know.

You'll be surprised at just how thin the wires directly running the bulbs are, I know I was, I still can’t quite get my head around they get that many amps down such thin wires without the car bursting into flames, lol.

And yes, re the second picture, one plug is for tow bar electrics, and as Mark said, they don't actually make the other half of that plug, and one plug is for the parking sensors.
I'm not 100% sure now, but I think the black one is for the tow bar and the grey one is for the parking sensors.
