I drive a 2.2dti, on a mixture of country lanes and towns, i am currently averaging 30 mpg. Does this seem about right ? Thought it might be a bit higher ? I have got quite a heavy right foot

I `m mostly round town and get 40mpg
Craig I had a 2.0 DTi, she'd do a mixed bag of figures, summer it could be 39mpg mostly urban, and winter as low as 32mpg same sort of use, one thing I think you need to check is the fuel price, it's 5 quid a gallon for diesel now, try doing the figures based on this, and don't believe the onboard comp, you're trips may not be long enough for it to get a proper figure up, hth
Would have thought you'd get more than that from a diesel is it due a service soon?
i averaged 50 mpg on my last tank, mixture of motorway and town. (150 cdti)
im usualy around the 40ish mark mostly town driving mine is the 120 version
Mine over 70,000 miles, came back at an average of 42mpg. Only I ever drove it, apart from Vx mechanics, Vx Technial, or rarely, Sharon.
Can't really compare 1.9 CDTI consumption to the 2.2 DTI chaps - very different machines.
And yes, as VX vet says £5 diesel gallon -- it's so expensive now that it makes consumption seem worse than it actually is, if putting in ten or twenty quids worth of fuel in here and there. I've noticed that myself.
If you're running about urban most of the time, like a taxi driver or something, low 30s doesn't sound too bad to me, for a 2.2.
i did a trip today 522 miles & used 42 litres of diesel works out at 62mpg was 90% motorway with cc set at 65mph cdti 150
