Sport button

HI,

My first post on this forum so here goes.


I have just been reading an old What Car mag and in it they compare the Vectra against the new Mondeo, Passat and Toyota.

They show an internal picture of a Vectra 1.9 cdti (148 bhp) SRI XP.

If it is correct it shows that this model has the 'sport' button fitted. Does the diesel Vectra have this as an option?

MY '06' 148 SRI does not seem to have it fitted. Is it only installed on on the XP model?

I have read the posts about the traction control button that can be fitted and sometimes work or don't depending on which wiring loom you have in your car.

Is it the same principal with the sport button or is there a bit more to it?

Hi Bullylad, Welcome to the site..

The sports button comes with the optional extra IDS+, i think its an option on all vectras, once pressed in it alters the suspension settings, power steering and throttle response...

Apparently the only model that has it as standard is the VXR. No prizes for that one LOL.

If it's the same as Astra's, the throttle response change isn't very intelligent. All it does is change the position of the pedal where WOT is, ie full throttle comes sooner on the pedal's travel.

Not exactly sure how it can change the suspension setup, unless there is some sort of hardware alterations, but I have only driven Astra's with this function and didn't look under the wheel arches for any actuators - but I didn't really notice any difference in suspension with the button ON TBH.

So if they can fit the sport button to the Astra SRi as standard, why cant they do it on the Vec SRi as standard? Is it because the Vectra must have the IDS2? The Astra doesnt have IDS2 (I dont belive) so why cant it be fitted like the Astra? Vx being tight again .
