Power loss mystery!

I am experiencing a intermitent fault with my 117k Vectra CDTI 120 (2004). Yesterday started the car after a short run and 30min interval but struggled to achieve enough power to reverse or pull away. Stopped engine re-started and it juddered into life with a far bit of black smoke/ and rough running but still virtually no power.

Called Green Flag no fault codes found through their dignostics and when GF chap re-started after 30-45mins fault cleared. Questioned GF technician who was at a bit of a loss.

Fault has not (yet) occured during normal driving but just on start-up

Any suggestions/ advice would be appreciated.

Car has no DPF. Run on non supermarket fuels. Proper history etc

Did you have any dash lights on when the problem happened?

No dash lights.

Fault has returned and has not cleared. Waiting for diagnostic on Monday. Car has done 30k in past year without fault but i have been expecting a problem like this at some point......

Spoke to Bosch diagnostics garage and they say that it could be several things including air-mass issue.

Diagnostics revealed issue with intercooler (hole) and this has been replaced but still running as before. Run on tech 2 after intercooler replaced but no fault codes.

Next stop EGR valve.................and £480 running total
