    Default Hi - First Vectra

Just bought my first Vectra yesterday ('07 1.8vvt estate) and traded in my much loved Focus estate (100k on the clock, all mine). The Veccie's definitely a grown ups car in comparison, can't imagine chucking it about the way I could the Focus, but its much more civilised and way way better on a long journey. The difference in quality is amazing too - I don't feel like I'm driving something made out of old yoghurt pots any more. Only disappointment is the juddery clutch in first. At first I thought it was just me getting used to a new car (plus the clutch on the focus was in a v bad way when I traded) but I've read a few threads which say this a known prob. Should I just take it to Vx garage and insist they change it or contact Vx direct? I've never dealt with Vx dealers before and hear they can be a bit, er, hit and miss to put it mildly. I've got a bit over 2 years left on the warranty...

    welcome.

Sounds like the dual mass flywheel issue, a known fault, get it into the dealers and get it sorted. May as well.

Does it judder when first taking up drive from stationary??

This is a common prob, as you say, if you bought it from a VX dealer go back to them and complain very clearly that what is happening and that you don't think it's acceptable. They would probably be more accommodating as you bought the car from them and they may be keener to please you.

If you bought independent or private, just go to your local VX dealer and raise the issue with them. Maybe read the info on here thoroughly so you are armed with some info for the 'fob offs' you may get from them.

Maybe also be worth visiting the section on here about good and bad experiences of dealers, and see if any good ones are local to you. Sometimes it's worth a bit of traveling to get the result you want / expect / need.

At the end of the day, don't let it spoil your enjoyment of your car - it is rectifiable.

The juddering clutch is a known fault.Vauxhall replace the clutch and flywheel with a new modified one.I had mine done at only 2800 miles on the clock.Don't let them fob you off. They fix it for free.Read my other posts on clutch judder for more info.

Thanks for all the advice. Phoned my local dealer today (needs its first service) who said that they'd had a few with the clutch problem, I don't suppose he would've said 'yeah we've had loads' anyway! Booked in for next week - does anybody know if any expanation has ever been offered for exactly what causes the problem - I heard it may be a treatment used on the facings which fails?
