Time to spend the modding money on modding your eyes. You can use Tesco clubcard points now to get laser treatment, amazing what Clubcard vouchers can. Even a car via Motorpoint.

I've worn glasses for "distance" for the past 36 years, since I was 12 in fact. Can't see much past 3 feet without them. I'm now also using contact lenses (for the past 18 months), monthlys and dailys. These were like a new lease of life to me, why I didn't try them sooner in life I really don't know. The best thing for me is that I can now wear ordinary shades, not prescription ones. Oh, and at my age, I have to wear reading glasses for reading with the contacts.

I still wear my glasses once or twice a week to give my eyes a rest from contacts. Glasses are something you get used too. Nowadays there are really trendy specs and are considered by many to be a fashion item.

I've considered laser surgery but can't really justify the cost. Even at cheapish prices (£350 per eye but can be loads more), I don't have that sort or ready money.

It's not the end of the world by any means - like anything, you'll get used to them

have worn glasses since school, now 28 and fed up with them, but still unsure about laser treatment (if it goes wrong - it really goes wrong!!!) may try contact lenses this year just for a change.

Unfortunatly laser treatment isnt an option,

In laymans terms, my right eye was damaged when i was 5 due to a squint operation and i only have around about 45% of the connections between the eye and the brain. it works fine but the picture it sends to the brain is a bit wishy washy, its really hard to explain but i can see fine with it but cant read or write using it. it is really sensitive to movement its like i got periferal vision just like a rabbit

I've worn them since I was 7, and I'm 48 now! I graduated to varifocals around 4 years ago, too when my close vision started to fade as well as the long. Being a diabetic means that I get my test free, but by the time I've got varifocal, slimmer lenses (I've got quite a strong prescription) and titanium frames (very comfortable -they weigh next to nothing). You're looking at the think end of £400 a pair!
