Default Fuel Consumption seems high, Signum 2.0 Deisel

    Hi All,
I have had my Siggy for about 6 months now and although generally pleased the Fuel consumption is reasing only 36.2mpg on the trip computer that I have not reset for last 8000 miles.Surely this is high for a 2.0D??? I normally travel along the A6 to work so leave the car on cruise at about 70mph(I know 10mph too fast!!)
Is there a common problem with this engine- its only 100bhp(could do with more)Any help/suggestions appreciated

Try resetting the trip every fillup, then you will get a better average.

Remember 100bhp aint all that much to drag a heavy car around.......

Sounds a little lower than i'd expect, but then what sort of life/mileage has the engine had?

I've had 35.9 from my 2.2 petrol across 17,000 miles, i would expect yours to be close to 40 but don't forget the signum is a big, heavy car.

Hi I have a vectra 2.0dti the 100bhp model, I dont even get 500 miles a tank so be thankful, as already posted I think its due to the low power engine against the weight of the car!!! I currently get around 400-430 miles a tank, not sure if chipping it would help??????

Just a thought but I don't rely on the BC readout. I prefer to brim the tank each time, reset the odometer and then work it out manually with a calculator next time I fill up. On nearly every occasion I've done this, my "true" calculation has shown 2mpg less than what the BC says.

So if the BC says 28mpg average, in reality I'm getting 26mpg . Sorry, that's for my GSi.
