Default Engine Mods, Bhp, 0-60 etc

Hi all, the engine mods that i am planning for my 1.8 LS are - induction kit or panel filter (whichever gives more bhp, still researching!), cat back exhaust, and re-map.

Does anyone know what bhp gains and 0-60 decrease i can expect here?

The re-map i am planning supposedly adds 21 bhp! this is alot more than others are saying but it is a local chap (www.wakeupyourcar.com).

    Any feedback appreciated.

    Thanks.

don't want up set you mate but i don't think the 0-60 will be a mega difference but thourgh the gears it should feel better, not sure if any one on here has had a 1.8 remapped but im sure someone will know more than me,'i've always had cone filters but after joining this forum i read a post that says cones arn't good for your car the filteration isn't as good so will let more dust and that through and cant rember but read a post about someone that rebuilt a porshe kept losing abit of power due to cone, and i personaly have noticed loss of power due to more heat getting to the cone if not covered properly,i think the pannel is better in my opinion there will be more technical people along so wait for there replys mate

Unless you can huild some kind of heat shield, there's just too much hot air in the engine bay to make a cone filter or induction kit effective.

Yeah, the general concensus is cones are not good, stick to the air box mod and panel filter upgrade!

As for 21bhp from a remap, seems a bit optimistic to me?

deffo go with the panel filter option, air box mod and get a cat back system........10 - 15% increase in bhp from this mod is possible we are led to beleive, twins are good and look nice but whatever floates your boat realy.....

if it breaths in and out better it will run better

EDIT :- if you want a cone make sure you get a heat sheild and fit a direct cold air feed for optimum performance

When i said induction kit i was thinking more along the lines of the enclosed induction kits, not just the cone alone. I had a cone on my cavalier for a while and it just sucked hot air in.

Anyone got any experience with the regal flowmaster? or the pipercross viper?

I agree that 21bhp is optomistic but i think its gotta be worth a go. I wil rolling road before and after to see.

By the way paul, just noticed your also from stoke

viper is well expensive imo, and not worth the cost over the gain...... was told vauxhall's prefere panel filter's by various tuner's over the years wether K&N - PIPERCROSS ETC

    all down to personal choice,

a re-map is always the final thing to do anyway, try courtney / bsr / MIJ or other's dont just settle for that one cos it's cheap

if vauxhalls prefer panel filters then thats what it will be! Any idea what sort of increase you get from this? I know it will only be small. What is the 'air box mod' what people talk about doing with panel filters?

A remap is deffo hapening dont worry.
