    Default Heater only blows hot

    Hi,

My 2004 1.9 CDTi seems to only blow hot air. Regardless of what the temparature controls is set to hot air comes out! This only seems to have happened recently.

Everything else seems to work - fans, distribution etc and the engine temp is always around 80 (as it always has been) Can't tell whether the aircon works as the hot air would hide that anyway!

Is it possible the temparature control is faulty in some way? it doesn't look like theres much to it!

If so, will one from a 2006 model fit my 2004 as they look identical and I've seen a few for sale on ebay for reasonable prices.

    Certainly sounds like it

Should be identical, just make sure you get the right model - ie with/without aircon, with/without climate control etc.

Might be an idea to ask Vx (or post up in the Part Numbers section here) what the right part number is, then you can be sure you get the right one on ebay

Good idea - Vx said its the same part right the way up unless its a climate control one, then it changes with the facelift.

Got one from Ebay for £39 delivered - cheaper than Vx but I hope it solves the problem.

The Vx guy seemed to think it was a fairly common problem but I haven't seen much of it mentioned on here?

I've not heard of this problem, I don't think. The heater fan motor is quite a common fault, but no the heater itself.....

    Good luck to you though

Well I'm assuming its the controls at fault. Everything seems to be working as normal - just turning the dial to cold has no effect!

Unless theres a valve or something that closes when you switch the heater off and thats faulty? Not sure how this works

there's a servo pack that drives the air mix flaps..that could be faulty as could the temp sensing probe..

B-gger! I should have guessed it wouldn't be simple!

Whereabouts are the servo pack and temp sensor?

I miss the old cable systems for heating controls...

    Isn't it always the case...

Took the glovebox out and 'tinkered' with the aix mix motor and all seemed OK, just not actually moving when i turned the heater control.

Had a cup of tea whilst thinking, squirted some WD40 on the motor joints for good measure and it started working again!

Anyone want a heater control panel from a 2006 Vectra? - I will have one spare soon. No reasonable offer refused
