    Default Fix It Again Tomorrow...

Bit of a thing about Fiat here. Rant!

When I was a little younger, well, 2004 to be exact, I thought I'd get shut of my 1985 Toyota Corolla 1.3 DX. It had never let me down and had covered 140k miles. It was serviced by my good self ever 5 - 6k with fresh oil and filter, and got new plugs every 10k.
I fancied something a bit more modern and sporty looking..... so I went to my local FIAT garage after seeing an ad for the New Punto Sport (with free Insurance....).

Had a test drive and decided to cough up and buy one - BIG MISTAKE!!!
took delivery of it in Jan 04 and the following week I went to devon in it for a few days for a holiday.

When I was driving up a hill in a village called Dittisham, I felt the clutch slipping and then saw the shocking sight of blue smoke from under the bonnet - and then - THUD!!! Clutch went totally, and the car had done 600 miles from brand new.

It was recovered 300 miles back to the stealers and it took a week to get the new clutch plate in. When it was finally 'fixed', the clutch was juddering like mad, so i took it back again.... and they canged the flywheel. Still the juddering continued.... so they changed the plate again..... and then the plate and the flywheel..... and it went on for another 2 attempts at fixing it....

Then the b*stards voided my warranty..... then I sold it after 12 months and 13k miles....

    CUSTOMER SERVICE EH!

On what grounds did they void your warrany ??
I thought initially this was going to be a little histrory into the Dual Mass fly wheel & it's introduction into the Vauxhall Range

they voided it because of the work thta they were continually doing. i.e because they didnt change the plate and flywheel at the same time, they kept warping each other.
they said that it was my poor driving style that was causing the damage - i think not!

We used to have a Fiat Stilo, and that turned out to be a bag of shyte. I will NEVER buy a Fiat ever again after my experiences with the car and the dealers who appear to know absolutely nothing about their product range at all. In the end Fiat UK offered me a complimentary service to gain my confidence in them. I sold the car and didn't take up their gesture that felt like p!ssing into the wind.

    But that's a different story.

Well my mrs had a 1995 N reg Punto 1.1sx from brand new, traded it in 2005 with 95k on it. In all that time not a lot went wrong, the most expensive things were exhausts at £170 a pop, everything else i.e servicing/tyres etc were cheap as chips. Obviously after it was paid off after 3 years it was nearly worthless so it wasn't worthwile getting rid and it just kept going.

HOWEVER I am aware that this was the exception rather than the norm !

definitely the exception I'm afraid. I would never buy another Fiat as long as I live. We have one in work and I refuse to drive it incase I break it!
