    Default Electricity Pylon Compensation

I went over to my dads house to check the mail yesterday and found a letter from "Property Compensation Consultants".

My dad's house is under a 132kv electricity line and a Pylon is in next doors garden about 10 feet from the house. The Letter says he can get compensation on a no win no fee basis but the fee is 20% of the award.

The house is on the market and has been for some time. The pylon has been sited as a reason for viewers not wanting the house.

Anyone else had this and taken interest of is it a scam?

Sounds like a company trying to make money off you, there has to be a catch somewhere imo. I wouldn't buy a house near a high voltage line, I looked it up on the net after viewing a nice house with one close by. It doesn't look good but nothings proven.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Rather an electricity pylon than a mobile mast....

"No win, no fee" is pretty straightforward, but I fail to see how he would be entitled to compensation unless the electricity company erected the pylon without asking the residents

I live not too far from a pylon, and so does the primary school around the corner of my house... Never bothered me, and last time I checked I wasn't glowing in the dark

Agreed - AFAIK magnetism has never even been considered as a dangerous thing....
