Default Snowflakes - Any know problems or faults?

As I am thinking of changing the SXI to a new SRI with snowflakes I was wondering if any one has any issues with them around durability.
Living in Redcar as any TS members or other visiting members will know the main roads in the borough are in a shocking state potholes, raised and sunken manholes etc, the roads make a battlefield look like bowling green. I have driven on better B roads in Argyll Scotland than Redcar
In fact if the local plod were to follow me sometimes he would pull me for DUTI as I have to swerve and weave to miss them.

Also I think the local council have shares in the speed hump manufacturers (pyramid shape with the top cut off) I have to cross three 8" sets just to get of the estate to main road.
I go over these at no more than 10mph and have tried straddling them or driving over them on one side only but, each time the car goes for service the tracking has to be done and I know two people at work and my daughters Corsa that have had springs replaced.

As the snowflakes are wider than my current rims I was wondering how robust they will be on the roads of Redcar. Are there any members with snowflakes on who have had problems?

any advice or help gratefully recieved

    Colin

Hey mate - just bought a Vectra SRI with 19" Snowflakes myself and live near Redcar - In fact I work in Marske.

You should be ok driving around the problem comes when you hit the pot holes at speed on the inside of the wheel as due to their size the wheel is much weaker. If you hit pot holes on this area of the wheel too often you can weaken the wheel and then it can cause you many more problems than just a screwed wheel.

    Hi DarrenLee

You mention hitting the wheel on the inside can cause more serious problems, what could they be?

    Thanks

It can cause issues with your ABS, quality of ride, rattle/shake in the steering wheel, balancing issues etc etc.

I live near Redcar and my previous car had 18s with 225/35/18 and with the upgraded suspension life on the roads ended up been a pain.Every bump is felt and when I hit pot holes the car felt like it had snapped.Speed bumps arent a problem as long as you dont hit them at speed. It all depends what you want out of your car 19s look stunning but dont do anything for ride quality especially on the roads of Cleveland.

You either want better handling or ride quality, very hard to get both at the same time... I have 19" snowflakes on mine, I live in the country and i dont find the ride too bad, and i've had worse...

I'm happy with mine too, but I do avoid potholes (but I'd do that with any size wheels).
