Question Oil and fuel filter Change on a CDTi 3.0 V6

The time has come for an oil change on my 2004 Vectra CDTi 3.0 V6 and I'm after a few tips. I changed the oil on loads of previous cars before, but am I likely to have any problems with the Vectra's undertray? Is there an inspection flap to get to the sump plug?

I've got a filter from Autovaux, £23 for the proper GM one, but before I start rolling round on the floor can anyone tell me where its located? I presume its in a metal canister or something? Is it ok to get to?

Also I've got a fuel filter, is that going to be any problem? Do these cars need bleeding or do you just fill the filter with diesel (the best you can) before fitting and let it sort itself out.

Many thanks, any input is much appreciated.
    Pete

From memory, the oil filter is fitted from underneath towards the tight hand side and I am sure it is at the front of the block.

hi the oil filter is located at the front of the engine meaning near radiator on the drivers side the under tray has to be dropped down as there is no inspection hole from what i can remember. changine the fuel filter is harder to change only due to getting the car started again i would suggest u fill the housing with fuel after changing the filter then start the car and keep it reving to disperse the air as there is no hand primer. note if u change the engine oil first run the car before u change fuel filter so at least the oil pressure is back to normal i hope this helps

Thanks very much, that'll give us a clue as where to start. It sounds like we're going to have to get it on our ramps to get it high enough if part of the tray has to come down.

When you drop the tray, keep it supported or it will flop and rip.

I've taken a look at my car today and located the oil filter no problem, but its got what looks like a drain bolt in the middle and a massive 14? sided spanner needed to unscrew the filter cap? I think its like a cup wrench?

Does anyone know where I can get one of these box spanner type things? We can't seem to get good enough grip with a normal oil filter strap wrench?

I'm not sure what size it is exactly?

    Cheers

    Question

    Hi,

I'm after one of these (see attachment) to undo the oil filter canister cap on my 2004 3.0 V6 CDTi.

Does anyone know the exact side of the one I need, ie diameter and number of flutes? They are only about £5 if bought individually and I don't really want to buy a set.

I've tried my local Vauxhall, but they say they don't sell them?

Any help would be much appreciated.
