Sump Plug Bolt Advice

Went to do an oil change today on my CDTi 1.9 (2004).
Holy moly was the bolt in.So tight,that we stopped trying to get it out,if we damaged it where would I get one from on a saturday afternoon?
Now the only people to change the oil/filter is vxl.(If it was this tight did they ever do my filter?Doubts are raised.)
Do I stand a chance of going back to vxl,armed with my previous invoice and demand them to undo it and provide a new sump plug bolt and fit it so it can be undone without a 6ft bar.

they do go very tight due to the sump being alloy and the same as the sump bolt just give it a good shock hit with your hand to crack the seal

and make sure you use a single hex socket

what i tend to do is losen it slightly when the engine is cold. Use a spanner an gently hit the spanner with a hammer tends to solve the problem better if u have a long reach spanner makes it easier to losen. Oil filter is in a very tricky spot if you dont have an oil filter removel kit the fuel filter well that is a two man job take it out drain it get a mate 2 hold it firmly on the floor use a flat head screw driver with hammer an hit the screw part to open it, mine has an arrow to show which way to tighten it so hit it in the opposite direction

and make sure you use a single hex socket

mine is a 12 or 13 mm socket can`t remember exactly,deffinately not torx or hex but bolt.

its about 13mm socket stick the rachet into the socket and the bar you get with the trolly jack use the opposite side to the pin you will have to remove the rubber if it has one the hole is just perfect for the rachet handle and will slide on perfect this will give you more leverage or can still use a hammer on it

lol at "not torx or hex but bolt" . 13mm bolt is hex . a single hex socket has better grip than a double hex socket .

You can get new sump nuts from Halfords but I don't know what size it is, so you might have to take it out to get the correct one.

I had exactly the same in December when I did my service, it took about 2 hours of trying with the engine cold with no success, eventually a friend came round to ask what we were up to then said, heat the engine for 5 mins and try again.....
Sure enough, it came out with no resistance at all!
Might be worth a go.

TBH you should always do an oil change when the engine is quite warm anyway. That way the oil is thinner and drains out much better bringing and nasties with it, also take the oil filler cap off
