    Default Learning a Foreign Language..

    Whats the best way to go about learning a Foreign language??

    I am quite embarrassed to be honest that i work for a compnay abroad and cannot speka there langauge, Its one of my pet hates over her with the Poles, and i am doing the same in Switzerland.

    Has anybody here learned a Foreign language from scratch and if so how did you go about it.

    Its German i want to learn by the way,

    have you tryed getting the tapes or cd to help you with the german language

    Tried them years ago with French and didnt rate them that highly to be honest.

    Can't you get these language courses on cd & maybe listen in your wagon etc?
    You could also search on the internet for language translator. You can type in what you would like to say, pick the language you would like & it comes up with the translation.
    I've used this a couple of times with work when people have rang in from Germany after parts.
    It might not be the most accurate, but it would be a start.

    what you need is a german co-pilot, preferable young smart and female to go on your travels with you

    I would say try the tapes/cds you could even take a few lessons to get you started .

    You can get tapes or cd,s from Linguaphone for most Languages, then listen to them in you car instead of music.

    I'm taking Russian evening classes at the moment.

    Evening classes provide a structure, routine and peer pressure to your learning. You dont want to be bottom of the class!
