i know this is along shot but could be the bearings on the drive shaft reason i know is when i took my peugeot apart i lost about 3 little rolers so i just greased it up shoved it back in and it made a grinding rumbling noise but this is only a suggestion

you could have partially seized offside front driveshaft support bearing..or you could have a flywheel problem..

the fact it only does it under load and at a certain rotating speed does make me think it's either of those two..check the support bearing for freeplay ( side float) and does it turn smoothly..the flywheel thou is a bigger job.. gearbox off.. but it will also let you inspect the clutch at the same time..

I had the same problem with my Vectra SRi 2.2 52 plate and it took me ages to work out the problem.

I would bet money its the dualmass flywheel unfortunately.

You DO NOT need to replace the clutch at the same time if its OK, mine has almost 60k miles and I left the clutch in and just replaced the flywheel, £350 ish as I remember with discount from Vauxhall.

Remove both driveshafts, drop subframe completely, remove gearbox completely, clutch off and there the ***** is.

sounds like a drive shaft. my ford connect did this, especially up hills!! and like you say put clutch in and was fine, but seeing as main dealer didnt spot it, it doesnt fill me with alot of hope. reading the posts above i cant see it being anything other than the flywheel or drive train.
