set top boxes

got rid of sky & got myself a set top box but think ive got my scarts mixed up as i cant record from my video it records from normal telly progs but when i switch on set top box it overrides video so i cant record from it any body shed any light, pics or diagrams would be a big help.

thats probably not as daft as it sounds, ive messed on enough tonight so i`ll pull everything out & restart tomorrow

On my Freeview box it has two scart sockets - one marked TV, one marked video. You have to make sure you connect to them appropriately. Some markings on boxes/video equipment aren't very clear, so you may have connected them wrongly.
