    Default Clunk in the front

    Hi All

I have a rattle in my Vectra as well. Seems to be a common problem. It rattles over un-even ground, sort of a clunk, clunk, clunk form the front end as it goes over bumps. The car feels different on the road, not quite as solid. I am not sure what it is or how to work out what it is. How do you test the antiroll bar links, tie rod ends, suspension, etc to see which one it is? The front tyres have uneven wear on them so I thought it could be the tie rods, but as I said before, the cars not quite as solid on the road so maybe the shocks or the antiroll bars. I have recently replace the rear shocks (they where also rattling), not sure if this has anything to do with it, and the noise seemed become worse.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like the drop links to me. Not a difficult item to change though.

Had clunk/rumble/shudder sound on mine seemed to coming from front nearside, but a little from rear nearside. Had bush n drop arms sorted at front and went quiet for a few days. It did it mainly at low speeds (road noise could've hidden it at speed) steering wheel wobble at various times but not all the timeso ruled out balance. M.O.T noted misting shocks so replaced front shocks with Bilstein OE spec and the handling is vastly improved and the noise gone. Been two weeks now only pain is in chronic crossed fingers!

    That sounds like wheel bearings.
The shudder sound I had I put down to the shocker not being able to reduce the spring rebound like a ruler held on the edge of the desk (good old days)

i have same sort of cluncking noise coming from the f/n/s, i jacked the frront end up and got the missus to "wobble" the steering wheel, seems to be a bit of play in the rack, is this normal? or do i need to take some deep breaths
