Default Dumb Question? Change wheels, reprog speedo

According to the Vectra hand book. If you change the factory fitted wheels and tyres to a different size then you should consult Vx to see if the electronics should be altered to show corrct speed on the speedo.

How realistic is this, anyone enquired? It makes a bit of sense I suppose but woldnt have thought to check with them.

Whoa! Cheers, so really, even if you just go 1" bigger you should get the speedo reprogrammed in some cases. Scary, how many people will be going even justa few mph faster than they think.

no need to get speedo done
the chart will show you your original wheel hight
pick the rims you want and match the wheel hight

mine had 215/55/16 but changed them to 215/50/17 or 225/45/17
the wheel hight is about the same so no need to get speedo adjusted.
hard to explain but if you get correct tyres fo the wheels you will not need to adjust speedo which will be a bit pricey i think.

In laymans terms, if you fit a larger diameter wheel with lower profile tyre, then as long as the overall diameter of both the wheel & tyre is still the same as before, then the speedo will read the same.

As long as you're within a couple of % of the original wheel diameter then no real need for the Tech 2.

Using the Tom Tom as a guide 70 MPH indicated on the Speedo was around 66 MPH on the Tom Tom with my 16" steelies.

70 MPH indicated on the Speedo is now 68 MPH on the Tom Tom with my 17" alloys.

It only takes a minute or two with a Tech 2, so it depends how much you dealer feels like getting stuck into you...

So - If I have 16" steels on and I swap them for 16" alloys, I can put my existing tyres on and there is no difference?

    Thanks everyone
