Ouch...sting! Used to have to go to the city every week during a 6 month posting with work. What a complete ball ache paying this. Poor people that have to pay it every day!

Not just 2.8's - my 3.2 Auto is rated at 252. Fortunately if I have to head into London I get the train but there are a lot of cars that will be potentially caught out by this.

Edit: Wonder what an Audi TT 3.2 emits? That's probably the same as the other VAG 3.2's and I bet that will catch a few in London

    Choice quote fro Mr L
    Feb 2003
I can't conceive of any circumstances in the foreseeable future where we would want to change the charge, although perhaps 10 years down the line it may be necessary
    So that’s 2 increases in 5 years.......

If he is elected next time round you can guarantee he will up the 'normal' rate to £10

Also there is rumour that he wishes to extend the zone as far east as the new Olympic village.

I thought it was a congestion charge, not an emissions/pollution charge !!

They word these things to suite them selves don,t they. It is all about making money thats all, if it was a congestion charge, you would be no better off if someone with a "large" motor bought a smaller one to use in the city, you would still have tha same amount of traffic.

If it was a congestion charge, then it would be vehicle size dependant. Ie a Fiat 126 would pay a lot less than a 7 Series, just on actual size of the car. Ie more small cars can fit in a road of any unit length.

    Where next?

Yep, and someone driving around in a 50/60 grand 4x4 or other high emisssion car such as a Ferrari etc can probably afford 25 quid quite easily and Mr L knows it. Targeting motorists again we've been a gravy train for too long !

Wonder if you could challenge him in the courts over this?
