Default Finally some good ish news

just spoken to vauxhall on the phone, they are 95% that the symptoms i have....

knocking from rear of car and an intermittent whirring sound from the right hand rear wheel...

they have diagnosed it as the control arm as they say its a common fault and they sell 30 - 40 of them every week.

    are these easy to change?

and can i get them any cheaper then the £61 + VAT vauxhall want for them.

    cheers

    Russ

Na, they're not easy peasy Russ, they are however a weak link on the car, I had mine changed twice in 15 mths, if you look at the rear spring, it's the bar that runs horizontal, unless you are good at mechanics I'd let a garage with a ramp fit them.

well we have a car club on the air force station with ramps etc, and a few amatuer mechanics so if i can find em cheap i might be laughing.

could someone see if these are on ebay as ebay is blocked on our comps at work

    cheers

I changed both of my rear upper links on Sunday morning, took an hour on the first one, then 45 mins on the other.
That was done with just an axle stand, one at a time.

The links were non-genuine from a local motor factors at about £35 each

Mark (gsi 3.2) advised the socket sizes needed E18 & E20

Also got the front anti-roll bar drop links changed as well, about £13 each from dealer

i didnt think that the arm would cause a whirring sound, but it must just be the car bouncing causing that.

any chance of a step by step guide?

and is it best to change both at the same time?
