    Default problems - 2007 2.0T

only got my car on 1st feb and i've got a list of things i think/know are wrong with the car

    1. Indicator cancels turning right - CIM module needs replaced

    2. Handbrake sometimes sounds like its going to snap when applied, but still works (so far)

    3. noisey exhaust in low gears, can't see a standard exhaust being this loud but I may be wrong as I'm new to the 2.0T

    4. heater not switching between w/screen and passenger

    5. Had hesitation from the car in 3rd/4th gear in low revs

Apart from the indicators which I know is common, has anyone else experienced these?

Car is in the dealers today so I'll keep you posted

I found my standard exhaust to be quite noisy at low rev's, it used to boom especially when cold so im assuming its normal?? Maybe we were just used to very little noise with the CDTi's

Fingers crossed you get the niggle's sorted as there is nothing worse than having issue's no matter how small with a new car..

Common problem amongst all Veccys (Recall issued to ALL manual transmission owners)!

    Yep, that'll sort that one.

    2. Handbrake sometimes sounds like its going to snap when applied, but still works (so far)

As above, current issues with handbrakes on a lot of cars. If it makes a clunk when applying, just release the lever with the button and (with button pressed in) give the lever a few 'pumps' up and down, then apply normally. Once you've released the button and it's latched, just give the lever a bit of a tug up and down to ensure it's fully seated on the ratchet.

    3. noisey exhaust in low gears, can't see a standard exhaust being this loud but I may be wrong as I'm new to the 2.0T

I noticed this on the facelift SRi 2.0T I had as a loan car a while back. Very raspy is how I'd describe it - is that what you mean? Must've been something they changed on the facelift version as never noticed/heard it on the pre-face.

    4. heater not switching between w/screen and passenger

Howdya mean? What exactly isn't switching? You mean with the manual dial or have you got Climate?

    5. Had hesitation from the car in 3rd/4th gear in low revs

Not something I've noticed, or heard of, on the 2.0T. Could be a few things.

well it has been cold recently, and when I give it some gas it's sounds like a custom exhaust, which sounds kind of nice but started to think there was a problem with it

going to collect it about 5 tonight, i expect it will be ok but we'll see

I dont have climate control, i just mean when you turn the knob to change the direction of the air e.g. from the windscreen to the driver it doesn't change.

the hesitation has only happened once, the engine had warmed up to normal temp, mentioned it to the dealer if any fault codes had appeared

    Maybe a faulty servo then?

Hopefully they'll find some fault codes relating to some of the probs.

Mine was louder when the engine was cold but you still got a noticable noise when it was upto running speed. The rasp that Duncan has mentioned sum's the noise up perfect IMHO so it seem like your stuck with it unless you go back to MSW

well back from the dealer and they fixed......nothing lol

not totally unexpected from arnold clark mind you

anyway I'm happy enough with the exhaust if it's meant to sound like that, as I said the only worry was that there was a problem and wanted it changed before it's a year old and still under warranty

the handbrake I accept will be down to the recall and will just have to wait

the heater is still not right so back to the dealer

the indicator looks like another run out with the 'technician' as happened with the last vec to see it actually happen, and then look for the fault code appearing

cheers for the tips on the exhaust Steven/Duncan
