    Default CDC40 info?? DAB/Subwoofer??

Hi, not strictly Vectra-c, but just wondering if anyone has any insight/info into the CDC40 unit??

I ordered a Zafira B SRi CDTi 150, with CDC40 + DAB, I read from the literature that the CDC40 came with a 7 speaker set up.. great I thought, DAB, 7 speakers must mean a sub!!!

When it went to build, VX changed the specs for the SRI, and it seems all the 150 CDTi's to not allow DAB, and on delivery of the car, I can only see 6 speakers, with no 'subwoofer' option appearing under the sound settings.. which is shown as an option in the Audio manual..

Does anyone know anything about the new infotainment systems, can a sub be added after, how would the unit then know about it? is it software, or configured when a 'sub' amp unit is plugged into it??

The sound isn't bad, I can live without DAB, but a sub would be nice, especially if integrated properly into the siund options, as it has speed sensitive bass management, which would be handy..

In fact any info at all on the whole new infotainment systems, such as how they go together as a system, are all changes made via software, or auto-discovery of plugged in units?? and why can't some models have DAB?

    cheers

    Phil

If the Zaf is the same as the Vec C, the seventh speaker isn't a sub - it's a centre speaker under the grille on the dash - just in front of the windscreen. This may be where your 'missing' seventh speaker is?

Some models of Vec C and Signum have nine speakers as they have an extra tweeter in the rear doors.

    Cheers, I'll check...

I've just been hunting on VX's website, and it seems there specifications for the CDC40 are different to the latest brochure.. I'm not that bothered, it sounds half decent, shame it doesn't do MP3's.. I can always add a sub myself, just curious as to see if anyone has the subwoofer settings on their CDC40 in their Veccie.. and if it made a difference?

No RCA Preouts on the standard VX stereos inc. the CD70

So to add a sub you will need to either take a lead from the rear speakers or change the stereo

On the Zaf SRI CDTi, in fact it seems all cars with ESP, the DAB is not supplied with the CDC40.. no idea why.. but is the SW +/- likely to be there if there is no DAB?

How did you find out the info??

I suppose I could just take the unit out and have a look? Is it just 4 hex bolts holding the CDC unit in??? how easy is it to take out??? anyone know??? do you need to enter a code when putting it back??

    cheers

I know my vectra has 9 speakers, well so the brochure says, I have wondered where the 9th speaker was, I in my ignorance thought there was a bass speaker somewhere, as the bass is very good, I would not have thought it was in the dashboard grill!!, but there you go you learn spmething every day. Cheers Duncan.
