Well, I gave the snow foam a shot this afternoon. Not great first impressions TBH.

Following on from this thread....

Gave the car a spray down, then the foam (left for 5 mins) then rinsed, then gave it another foaming and rinsed. I've gotta say, I was a bit disappointed TBH. The car wasn't very dirty really, just had a layer of grime on it and I was expecting the foam to have lifted off more of this so that it just rinsed off. It lifted some, but not that much of it. Parts of the car didn't really look like I'd done anything to them i.e. the tailgate, doors below the window line and front wings. Maybe I was expecting too much from it? Maybe I need to give it a clean with a mitt and give it another seal and was before the snow foam will just allow the dirt to fall off?

dont do the spray down first duncan...put it on dry...dont hose the car first as the water thats already on the car will cause the snow to run off quickly and not have time to lift any dirt...

I rinse the car 1st, the spray on the snow . leave for 5 minutes and give the car a rub down with a sponge, the reason I do this is to lift all the dirt.

I know the snow if meant to lift all the dirt off with no contact but I find doing it this way does the best job I use the Snow/3D foam to speed up the wash, it stops all the dirt being rubbed on the paint as the snow holds all the grit and dust etc,

Then wash of and dry, perfect job every time,

give it a try next time, i think you'll be happier giving it a rub down, you'll be amazed with how much dirt is in the foam after giving it a rub

are you not just rubbing the dirt into the paint that way? I thought the idea of foam ( not used it ) is non contact dirt lifting?

Right, I was just following the instructions on the label. I'll try that next time maybe.

But if you're rubbing the car down with the foam on the car, aren't you going to be rubbing that dirt/grit all over/into the car?, as the foam is holding it all.

So what happens when you wash your car normally, even if you use a wash and wax you rub dirt particles over the paint, thats how swirling happens,

At least in the foam you have the particles trapped in a thick layer of cream foam,

IMO you are restricting the amount of dirt touching the paint, but thats just me. if your worried ask Mark - Auto-Brite,

I put a nice thick coat of foam on but within a couple of minutes it had all but melted & run off - is it suppoded to do that??

The perfect use for SSF is a touchless wash. Foam car one or twice and Pressure hose off. Your not really supposed to rub the foam in. Its supposed to soften the dirt. In practice It will soften the grime and a good pressure hose off will remove most of the dirt and reducing the potential for swirls when getting to the hand wash part.
