    Default Speed Bump

Have a seriously annoying suspension noise when going over speed bumps. Mostly a loud squeak but sometimes a cruch. Took it to garage and they said they checked suspension over, links etc and nothing was wrong. They also couldnt reproduce the noise, I even took the engineer out in it and typically I couldnt make it happen again. Left the garage feeling pretty miffed, hit every speed bump on the way home and it wouldnt happen.

Next day it happens again and ever since. I know if I take it back the car will make a liar of me again. Is there any chance that when they lifted it to inspect that it temporarily cured the problem? Just stabbing in the dark now.

It seems to be standard fit on vectras.
Took mine back 3 times before they managed to hear it for themselves. Still not been cured though.

To be honest the poor suspension on these cars is almost criminal. Cracking car let down by suspension which belongs on a dinky toy.

It's gotten to the point with me that when I change it won't be for another VXL

Thanks, when I go back I will specifically ask them to check these. It had better make the noise otherwise I just look like an eedyot!

^^^^ Agreed, I'm no expert, but when the garage jack the car up for inspection, it probably unsettles the suspension, until you've driven the car some miles or let the car settle again and the noise returns. they really need to test drive the car before jacking it up IMHO.

It's not always the case that because they are creaking, they need replacing. It's rubber, rubber can creak. Dab a small amount of brake fluid on the rubber in question and it will solve it.

I MEAN A SMALL AMOUNT!!!!!!!!....and don't get any on the paint.

Cool, thanks chaps. Just spoke to the garage, taking it down on Wednesday morning and they are going to go for a ride with me before they lift it up again. If it shows me up again I am going to use cheap car polish for a month - teach it a lesson.

    Leviathan,

Let me know how you get on, ive got the same prob and its driving me nuts!!

Was going to get it checked at the garage when its in for something else but the father in law told me about lubricating first as he had the same prob.

The rides also got a bit rough recently but hoping thats just the tyres needing checked/changed?

Yeah will do, another thing. There is no drop kurb outside my house so I have to mount the kurb to access my drive. I find that sometimes its like pushing a wheel barrow up a ramp to empty it into a skip. The vectra just doesnt want to go up, feels spongy.
