    Default HID kits from LMF

Was just browsing the LMF site - as you do - and came across these...

Good price too! Anyone used them?

interesting.....but isn't 8000 Kelvin a bit on the blue side?

at least you know if you do get them from LMF you've get excellent backup service.

I am tempted Harry. I definitely want some sort of HID upgrade on mine. I noticed the 8000K bit too, partly why I was asking if anyone had used them.

I'll maybe ring Steve tomorrow and see if there is an option to have a lower Kelvin bulb. I'd rather have the better output than a bluer look.

normal halogen bulbs are about 2300K and factory fit HIDs are 4300K, the most you will want on the road is 6000k as they are white but with a very slight blue tint to them.

I agree, 6000k is really about the limit. As I said in a previous thread, I have a friend whos put 8000k's on his Honda Accord, and I mentioned its quite dazzling to oncoming vehicles. However, since thast thread, we've noticed that because he doesnt have the 'cat eye' lens for dipped beam like our vecs (lens is like our main beam), and the bulbs dont have a blanking cover on top to reflect the light into the unit, therefore the light comes straight from the top of the bulb in a 'flood' effect rather than a concentrated beam....though it did pass an MOT.

Duncan: If they do the 6000k's then I will be interested too. I fitted my angel eyes thursday night, so this will complete the unit nicely! Could you let us know?

Chris best check with ultimate if your ok using a HID kit with the angel eyes for some reason I am sure I read somewhere it could void your warranty on the lights and might melt the lights as well..

8000k will be blue bordering on purple.I had them in my Vec B V6 and didnt keep them long as it was to obvious they are not standard. Also they may attract unwanted attention from the Police. The kit should not melt your lights as they run cooler than standard bulbs.

My first question to LMF would be, 'will they pass the MOT?'

Yep, will do. If the only come as 8000K then I won't be getting them - as has been said, too blue/purple and too noticeable - not to mention they won't give as powerful as a lower Kelvin bulb.

I'll find out more info on Monday.

Kyser - the kit says that it won't affect the warranty on angle eyes. Not sure which specific angel eyes though as the only ones listed on the LMF site were for a Tigra.
