    Default Flashing brake lights

    What causes these????

    Stuck behind this Astra all the way home with brake lights that kept flashing. Car was brand new as well!!!

    were they blinking on and off, or flickering like a tv does in the corner of your eye?

    Warns of very heavy braking

    I think they come on when the ABS kicks in.
    Something to do with emergency brake assist I believe.

    Read somewhere that if you stamp on the brakes hard enough to activate the ABS, the rear brake lights will flash to alert other drivers that you are braking very hard.

    Perhaps the Astra had a fault or the driver was a t..t with a heavy right foot

    COuld just be a dodgy brake light switch.

    We had stopped at lights the first time they came on, and they flashed the whole time the lights were at red.

    I'll take a guess and say it was probably some old dear in her 90s........

    Maybe the driver was "tapping" in time to a tune on the radio !!!
