Vehicle : Insignia CDTi SRi NAV 160

    Trim : SRi

    Engine : A20DTH

    Year : 2009

    Mileage : 88000

Default Should I transfer my dampers to my new car?

    I am getting the 1.9cdti 150 sri.
I believe these already have shorter dampers than standard.
I have Eibach sports dampers on mine with lowered springs (I know I will have to get new springs as its different axle weights).

    So should I:

Change them over as they are less than a year old, the new car is a 2005.
Leave the orginals on and change the springs.

    Any suggestions on springs?
Currently been using PI springs on the 1.8sxi and coupled with the eibachs it is nice and low.

You may have a problem transferring the kit over from the 1.8 to the 1.9CDTi as the front axle weight of the 1.9 will be a fair bit more than than the 1.8 (you'd need to check). Assuming it is, then you'll be using the kit on a car with a higher FAW than it's intended for.

    These are dampers

It says they are also suitable for the 1.9 CDTI

I know the shocks/springs will need to be replaced

Read the bl**dy thread properly Duncan!!

Right, in reply to your question (now I've read it properly! ) I can't see why you can't swap the dampers over and then just get the springs you need. As long as you match up the springs with the dampers then you'll have a nice setup. Why not get Bilstein springs as they work nicely with Eibach dampers.

Oh for Gawd's sake - what's wrong with my brain this evening!!!

Yep, I did indeed mean Eibach springs to go with his dampers!!

Just realised, he said he has Eibach dampers, so Eibach springs should match perfectly. I think it was the Eibach dampers that threw me as I'm used to seeing that relating springs!

I'm off to get my first glass of wine - might help my posting a bit! lol

Going to be a long evening as this rate

So are we saying it is worth changing every thing over then, there will be a difference compared to the standard SRi setup?

I'd swap the dampers over but i'd get rid of the springs and get a set of eibach's. It should handle superbly after that.
