    Default power in boot

Hi all, I'm looking to put a sub and amp in the rear could anyone tell me if there is a permenent live for the amp somewhere in the boot.I'vegot all the rest of the wiring in but forgot about the feed and don't want to have to take the head unit out again. I was thinking about the light in the boot.

Hi there, You dont want to take power from the light in the boot, it wouldn't be rated for enough currant and would only operate when the boot was open!!!

There is a fusebox in the boot and it is possible to get a 12V feed from there. But unless the amp is quite a small wattage one, the best option is to install your own feed direct from the battery and have it fused to match whatever cable you decide to use. The heavier the cable feeding from the battery to the amp, the better your bass responce will be.

Just found a link to where you can get the 12V feed from the rear fusebox.

    Hope this helps.

^^^ what he said. None of the power wires in the boot will be anywhere near big enough to take the kind of current the amp will draw. Sorry, but you're going to have to take out your HU again.

Thanks put this is not the main power I have that staight from the battery is the remote wire that turn the amp on normly you use the automatic antenna in the back of the head unit. There is so many wires at the back of the unit it's a nightmare to get it back in the slot.

But wont that mean that the amp will only come on when the boot is open.
