    Question any ideas?

I think i have a duff oxegyen sensor or ferked mass airflow meter as a result of being in clutchless manual and forgetting the car changes dowm. pulled away from lights at 7000rpm + for a good few 10 - 20 secs and the car sounds like a diesel on idle sitting at just over 500 rpm. 2.2 petrol sri(auto)

fuel consumption per tank down from 340 to 270 and mpg down to 23.

have i blown something? its going to be a good couple of weeks before i can get car into dealers.

    help!!

If you have busted something, you can't have done it properly
Generally if any of these sensors fail you'll start getting the emissions warning light coming on and your car will operate with reduced performance.

1.Was the car cold when you did this or was it already warmed up?
2.Does the car missfire when revs increase while you are driving and engine is under load?
3.When you first start the car from cold does it tick over ok or is it noisy/lumpy straight away?

If the car was cold when you did this it is possible that you have burnt out an O2 sensor.
If the car struggles to maintain power while driving, it could be the ecu cutting the HT spark to prevent engine damage, it will do this if it gets incorrect info from O2 sensors. Usually ok when first started from cold as ecu disregards O2 sensors initially to allow them to reach operating temp.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT CONTINUING TO DRIVE WITH FAULTY O2 SENSORS CAN WRECK THE CAT AND AIR MASS METER, CAT USUALLY BREAKS DOWN DUE TO RAW FUEL ON CERAMIC SURFACES, AIR MASS METER BURNS OUT/ OVERHEATS TRYING TO CORRECT INCORRECT O2 READINGS.

hi there. cheers for replies. car wasnt cold when i did it as i'd been stuck in traffic jam for an hour. power isnt as much cutting out but is very much takes off one minute reluctant the next. maybe the auto box as there isnt much kickdown and sometimes the change up is lumpy.

Ill book it in i think for just after christmas or new year for full check up.

    cheers for replies
