Hotels in or around Gatwick A/P

Anyone recommend a hotel in or near to Gatwick Airport ?
Also, a nice pub/resaurant to go to nearby.

whatever you do dont use the skylane hotel as it is for the homeless, more of a hostel than a hotel,holiday inn by the airport is good. and the best western called "gatwick worth" is ok and you get the use of the gym next door... Pub "The Scud" in red hill is ok as is "the kings" in horley. food there are a couple of harvesters and brewers fayres on the brighton road that are ok just depends what your after really

Head for Crawley! its 5 minutes from the airport and eateries every where. Tuesday nights is troll dolly night. I stayed at the crown Plaza. Pricey but worth it

We stayed in the Copthorne Hotel, does a park and shuttle service as well. Also only 5 minutes from the airport.

I believe The Copthorne is now the Crowne Plaza..

The George Hotel in Crawley is cheap (£60/room/night), but the rooms are clean. It's right on the High Street, so lots of restaurants (3 x Indians, 2 x Chinese, 1 x Thai, 3 x Italian (I can see them all as I type this!!!)), couple of okay pubs too. The Aurora (next to Crawley train station) is more expensive, but it's really plush, and the food there is awesome (we sometimes to there for meetings/briefings) if you feel like treating yourself. The Ramada is near Junction 10 of the M23 (gatwick is junction 9, a couple of miles away). Nice place too.

When I go there on business, the Aurora, George, Clarion/Crown plaza and Copthorne were all recommended....I think Paddy, Cara and myself have come to the same conclusions too!

BTW the Crowne plaza also has a shuttle bus to the airport.
