A couple of pics
Thats a shame, any idea what you are going for yet?
looks agood example of a astra estate but its a 1.7 will it be a step down in power and performance engine wise?
good luck with the new motor mickey looks great
Overall the car is slightly lighter than the veccy which is only a bog standard 1.8. Though the astra has only 100bhp, the turbo makes sure it pulls well and the torque is pretty good. Anyways, can't see it staying at 100bhp for long
Wish we could have afforded to go for a 1.9 cdti but thats budgets for you.
Why have you went for an estate? You know that they rarely have anymore useable space than a hatchback. I had our first boy and went out and bought an astra estate, 6 months later traded it in for a Renault 19 16v.
In the case of the astra, I have to disagree. There are two main reasons the astra h estate has better load space than the hatch.
Firstly, the bootlid itself is so tapered in a v shape towards the bottom that you simply cannot get anything of any great sie through it. Couple that with the huge lip to the boot floor and really the space is too small and unuseable
The estate is based on the van and so the bootlid is large and wide as is the bootfloor as well as flat and so maiking the space much more useable.
Also we have a small dog and its impossible to get her cage into the back of the hatch even with the seats down. With the estate it just goes straight in
The difference in the two is marked and impressive imho
It's like the difference between the Vectra hatch and the estate (and Signum). One of the reasons I love the Signum, as it'll take big items no sweat.
Anyway, hope you're happy with it when you get it , and don't be a stranger.
Actually, there's a question - did you consider a Signum? Load space like an estate, and probably as much, if not more, overall load space than an Astra estate.
There are some advantages to an estate - granted. But the vectra does have a huge load space, albeit not as frienly as an estate.
