    Default Telephone/Broadband help please

I changed from BT to TalkTalk last March and I am having a continual problem phoning out. I can be on the internet (broadband very good/quick) and then the phone will ring and on answering, cuts of/freezes the internet connection. Other times when I try to phone out, the voice tells me its not a recognised number and fails to go through. I can try the same number up to 15 times before it will connect. Very fustrating.

I sent TT an email and they said that it must be my equipment and if they were to investigate would cost me £180 for starters . Does any body have any ideas what could be causing this?? This is the first time I have had broad band and I did not think that the system would play up like this. Thinking of going back to BT!

ANY HELP WOULD REALLY BE APPRECIATED

ADSL filter is the filter the phone and modem have to be plugged into before they go into the wall socket. Every phone in the house that is plugged into a socket has to go through an ADSL filter or you will have problems with the landline calls.

BTW, a friend of mine works for TT and she would not advice anyone to use them

Its the little adaptor that plugs in to the phone socket that you phone plugs in to and the router plugs in to.

I don't think thats your problem, if you are having issues on phone side, I would say its the Talk Talk service, sound like congestion on the network to me, due to overloading , (IE Everyone trying to make free calls - glogging up the network)

To rule out the internet, disconnect the router , micro filter and just plug your landline phone in to the wall socket, if you still have problems after this it just the quality of TT and I would say give notice and move in march,

if you are problem free after this, with all the router/filters un plugged then in could be your router, - try someone else's and see if you can replicate the fault,

I would say filter if it freezes the Internet only when the phone rings.

Change the one you have there at the moment, and ensure all other devices that plug into the phone line (extra phones, Alarms, Skybox) have a filter each.

    That should sort it.
