    Default No stereo code

    How do folks.

When I bought my Veccy I never thought to ask for the VIP card that I had with my Vectra B.

Months down the line I was thinking of disconnecting the battery to reset the ecu for aitfilter etc. Then I read on here about remembering the code!!!

Will Vauxhall give me a new code if I rock up with my logbook/ID etc?

    Ta.

your car 04 cdti if fully canbus then no code to put in, it;s part of the whole electrical system now, and if not and does need a code, it's about £12.00 from vx for all your security info..

Yes, but expect a charge to be made, however i done it a few years ago and the bloke at the service desk found it on the computer and told me it for free.

Worth a try if you get them in a good mood.

I asked the same question recently, and was told it would cost me around £17, and that it is Vauxhall's charge, not the dealers, i.e. no way around it.
When I bought my car, I was given the impression that Vauxhall didn't issue them any more, and that I could get the info I needed freely, so long as I had my log book. Ha!
It's 2 years since I bought my car, so I doubt the previous owner still has it (if he ever did).
The code feature on my model can be switched off, but you still need the code to do it.
So, it looks like I will have to pay the money to get info I stongly feel I should have freely anyway!

Thanks guys. I'll go and have a search round the forum now, but is there an easy way of telling if the car is fully Canbus?

I'll give Vauxhall a tinklelater today!

Look at the steering wheel stereo control switches. Rolling wheels mean full CAN, 6 push buttons mean not so.

If buttons, then you will probable need the code to re-activate the stereo after battery disconnection. Hand book tells you how to re-enter the code, it's not difficult.

My 04 is not full CAN, and I doubt yours will be either.

Lesson learned, ask for code card whilst buying car, I made sure I told them I needed it when I bought mine from a VX dealership...

    Cheers Ste.

Mine has the buttons on it so I will try and get the code off Vauxhall.

Stupid of me really, I should have checked. I think I was too excited when picking it up.

Just rang them. They will require one log book, and 34 of my finest pounds.

I think I will wait until I actually need it!
