    Default Removable towbar now fitted

I know, I know - hardly an earth shattering mod, but nevertheless I should put up pics given my avatar!

After buying it from Matt, I finally fitted it the other weekend when I was up at GSi Towers. Mark and I got stuck into it. I was basically the interior trim and bumper remover whilst Mark was the one with the power tools and hand tools! Now there's a surprise! lol

So after all the boot trim was removed, including the side panels, Mark got stuck in drilling the holes for the plates to attach through, feeding the electrics through etc. We just worked through it methodically - Mark knowing exactly what he was doing as he'd done this more than once! lol The actual towbar bit didn't take too long, it was the trim removal and refitting that probably takes up most of the time.

    So, once all done.....

    Now you see it....

    Now you dont....

The swan neck removes and the electrics (12N and 12S) swing up behind the bumper, so no sign of a towbar at all.

I don't currently have anything to tow with it! , but at the price Matt was selling it at I thought I may as well get it - especially being removable. I would hate having a towbar visible all the time. It just gives me the option to tow a trailer etc. if ever the need occurred.

So, thanks Mark as always for your help and another little 'mod' for the car.

    D

That's very tidy....I take it the estate is a similar set up? Although I think my rear diffuser has to be cut to fit.

I'm thinking of this too after looking at the prices of plastic roof boxes, you can get a decent trailer for a lot less !

I think it is pretty similar, not sure about the diffuser bit though. I do recall when GG fitted his (can't recall if it's fixed or removable) the cabling on the Vx electrics was a bit too short to reach the fusebox! Not sure what bar it was, or the other specifics - he'll be able to fill in the blanks.

Wow, I never thought the removable ones could be that 'invisible' once detached. That looks very tidy. Top job Duncan.

That's the same bar I had on my car D. Andyvec fitted mine for me and removed it when I sold it to Nutron.
