Default Diesel Additive for Vectra C Estate

Are there any diesel additive to stop the CAT from carboning up due to short ops?!

Try "cataclean" can be used on petrol or deisel. It can be found on e-bay costs around £15 pounds a bottle.

The Diesel particulate filter on the Vectra should regenerate itself automatically by injecting extra fuel to raise the temperature of the filter itself and burning off the deposits that have collected. You will probably notice a slight increase in fuel consuption if you have the fuel computer on an perhaps a slight loss in performance but it shouldn't be much. If the particulate filter does become blocked (short journeys can interrupt the regeneration process) the emissions light will come on to warn you. The system only regenerates itself when it detects an increase in back pressure, so there is no set timescale when it will kick in but on short journeys I would imagine it will be more regular. In theory a good blast every now and again should sort it without additives, Citroen/Peugeot use a pig derived additive which needs to be replenished on occasion and have a recommended replcement interval for the DPF, not something I'm aware of on the Vectra.

    Thanks for the explanation

As yet, no emissions light has come on

Will give it a good blast from time to time as suggested
