    Default Auxiliary belt

Just picked my car up from vx after fitting a new crankshaft pulley that i supplied cos vx had none in stock.

Anyway picked car up at 5.30 paid for the labour £40 and then started my car up. What a ratchet the noise is so loud. When i blip the throttle it goes, sounds like heavy knocking noise.

Went back to complain and was told they have fitted the part i bought in and the noise is down to a pulley belt tensioner fault.

They new it was noisy but didn't tell me. It certainly wasn't like that before the pulley broke off.

Could the noise be the pulley tensioner and if so how much are they?

Could they have damaged it when changing the pulley?

    So unhappy with their attitude.

I don't know the answer, but that's disgusting service!!

They knew it was making that noise after they fitted the part so they just left it until you came to pick it up!!

Also is the belt likely to break if the tensioner is not working? Is it safe to drive like it?

Yes excately what happened and they couldnt care. They fitted what they did and no more but it wasnt making that noise before the pulley broke.
